Centerpieces

So I have been a slacker to this blog.  And not because I haven't done any projects. I actually have quite a few under my belt!
Mainly because my camera has been out of commission.  As all would agree what good is a blog without pictures??

So my wonderful friend let me borrow
her camera and here are pictures of my latest project.

I was in charge of centerpieces for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and I chose to make a family block for all of the siblings to display on the tables.  Because the tables are round they all were double sided.  So this project took at least 30 hours. Probably because my hubby is the youngest of 10!  I think that they turned out great and everyone got to take home a centerpiece that they can use for Thanksgiving dinner.

I got the idea for these HERE!

Little bitty shelf

This little shelf needed some TLC when I purchased it from craigslist.
Not too shabby, eh?

A holder for books!

This loverly piece of particle board was a whoppin $1.50 at a garage sale. I know the before pics are hard to see, but trust me, it was a nasty!

A quick coat of paint and some stain and hooray, super cheap bookshelf!

Freebie turned GORG!

I wish I would have taken a better before picture.
I also have know idea how to turn it. (it is from my phone) I saved this beauty from the dump.

The color for this project was inspired by this blog!
Love it!

Frames

Inspired by this awesome website.
I used some FREE and garage sale frames to spruce up my hutch!

Sorry such crappy pics!

Where the color begins!

My living room was lacking in color and I was going crazy! Cream couches, beige walls, and only black and white furniture. So here was my first splash of color to the room. I bought these pillows at DI for a dollar each and bought the fabric at Walmart on Clearance. My wonderful mother helped me sew these pillow covers! Love them

a place for the Keys

Here is a fun little project...

The hooks were given to me and the frame
was a garage sale find for .25.
Quick spray of paint and there you have it!

Give me some color!

I have needed to add some color to my bla living room for ever! So This little beauty (which you will remember was a FREE find at a garage sale)

went from this...

to THIS!!!

The color for this project was inspired by THIS~ love this blog.

Cricut

As many of you know, a lot of the crafts I have been featuring, require vinyl. I have been tossing around the idea of getting a machine, but better than buying is winning! So check out Women Who Do It all for a Cricut giveaway. Hooray!
So...what was I doing up way past my bedtime (of 9pm) last night you ask? Well, today was picture day at school and I decided that K needed a new flower clip for her do. But when you go to all the trouble of getting your supplies out, why make one when you could make 30? Now I know that these are not boutique quality but hey, they are SUPER easy to make and cost---are you ready, a WHOPPIN $.35 a piece to make. That sure beats the $4 it would cost you to have someone else make them. (NOTE: I got my flowers from the dollar store)
K was super excited this morning and I have more than I need so now we have some fun gifts.
Next on my list----a much needed bow holder!

Here are some Picture of K's hair-do for today. I got the idea here, from Babes in Hairland. I must say that I love this do and I probably do it so much it is a little over kill, but I don't care.
I know it is hard to see from the pictures, but the bands I used are lime green. They match her cute dress and were perfect for St. Patty's Day! I forgot to take another picture after I put the flower in, but trust me--it was adorable!

On a side note, I went shopping yesterday and will actually have some projects of my own done soon. Of course all of the projects have been inspired by others and I am grateful for those who share their awesome ideas! Thank you.

Small Projects

Here are a few small projects that I have done lately.
This Scripture Journal is something that we do for FHE. As part of the lesson we write down our thoughts on the lesson as a family in our Journal. It is stored in our "treasure chest" where we keep our Scriptures for family reading time.

Here are some Baking Soda cans that I spiffed up to hold the older kids "tickets" that they earn for doing chores. Tickets can be cashed in for Playstation time, Computer time and movies.

$.75

Here is my first little cutie!
I found it at the DI for $.75!
Looking for a few more to make this project.

Honey Wheat Pancakes

This is the pancake recipe that I use on a weekly basis. I love that the mix is all ready to go and all I have to do is add a few ingredients. My hubby LOVES these and it is a great way to use some of your food storage.

Honey Wheat Mix
3 cups whole wheat flour
6 cups all purpose flour
1 cup instant milk powder
1/3 cup baking powder
4tsp salt
1/4 cup honey powder or 1/2 cup sugar

Mix together and store in the fridge in an air tight container for 10-12 weeks

Honey Wheat Pancakes
1 egg
1 1/3 cup water
3 TBLP canola oil
2 cups Honey Wheat Mix

Combine egg, water and oil, beating with whisk. Add mix and let stand for 2 minutes. Pour batter over hot griddle. These will not cook as fast as Bisquick so make sure that you give them the time they need or your inside will be doughy.

Breakfast for Dinner

REVIEW: These pancakes were very yummy and the syrup was to die for!!!
They did take a lot of work and I will not be making them every day,
but a fun breakfast for special occasions!

Check out my staple pancake recipe above.
They are so good and a great way to use some of your food storage.

We are having these for Dinner smothered in this.... How about you?
I will let you know how they turn out, but my mouth is seriously watering. I LOVE breakfast food!
I got the recipe here.

Cutest Pies Ever

So When I get some time, I am DEFINITELY making these.
My mouth is seriously watering .
Yummy
AND can I just say- Visiting Teaching?!?

Aprons

Me and my two SIL's made some sweet Aprons during Thanksgiving holiday. Let me tell you this is a big accomplishment for someone (me) who does not sew! I wish we would have gotten pictures of all of them. We made six!

P.S. I know that when this picture was taken my baby was only 3 months old, but THIS is the picture that has inspired me to start working out!

10.2.10

Freebie

I found this little beaut for FREE at a Garage Sale this summer.
It is a headboard that was a loverly brown.
A quick coat of paint, sanding and wallah... it is now my Entertainment Center that fits nicely in my tiny living room.

Eye Sore

So In my Kitchen I have this lovely little number, which use to not be so lovely.
I have been looking for a shelf or a piece or furniture to replace this but no luck yet.
So inspired by this, I added a little pizzaz to this drawer self until I can find what I really want. Sorry I don't have before pictures, but trust me it was hideous.
There was tape residue on all of the drawer fronts.
Thanks again to Drab to Fab for the inspiration!

DI FINDS

To be honest I have never been a big fan of D.I.
My thing is Garage Sales and let me just tell you that I am DYING for warmer weather.
But inspired by many awesome blogs that I have been stalking lately and because of the chilly weather I have been making it a point to stop in when ever I am on the West side of town.
So here are a few of my recent finds:

2 of these cute jars for 1.50 each

Wall Art for a whoppin $1.50

Picture of Christ that I honestly only bought for the frame (which use to be a hideous gold) but ended up liking it so much after I painted the frame that I just left it. $1.00
